This is a scene based on a photo I took in Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, Melbourne. I tried to evoke an atmosphere of the classic saying about Melbournes weather - "if you don't like it, just wait 5 minutes"! Also immortalised in the Crowded House classic song 'Four Seasons In One Day', here the rain is just clearing and the cyclist is making a break whilst he can.

I have done several variations of this painting, but none in these proportions. I walked around my own home and found that this tall, skinny sized canvas is great for fitting in some smaller, more awkward spaces.
