This original stencil painting by Melbourne artist Geoff Cunningham captures the nostalgic character of suburban streetscapes. Inspired by ordinary neighbourhoods, Geoff blends hand-cut stencils and layered spray techniques to create bold light, shadow and detail. Each piece celebrates the warmth, simplicity and familiarity of everyday life.
This piece draws on that childhood feeling that the local milk bar wasn’t just a shop, but a place to meet your friends - it was the centre of everything. A bike, an ice cream, a pocket full of change and a familiar street corner could be enough to make the world feel big, bright and completely your own. Set beneath suburban powerlines and summer sky, the painting taps into the swagger, freedom and small rituals of growing up in Australia.
Acrylic & aerosol on artist quality canvas - 90 x 122cm. There is a painted "mount board" that represents a 35mm slide transparency which has a clean finished look. If preferred, add a floating frame in your choice of black, white or oak.
