Stencilchrome series
'Soft Serve' transforms the classic Mr Whippy handover into a hand-painted object artwork, presented as an oversized vintage slide. Cropped to the exact moment of exchange, the piece captures the excitement of Australian summer nostalgia, suburban childhood, and one of the simplest rituals of retro Australian life.
There is also a playful nod to Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam in the near-touching hands — only here, the moment of revelation arrives in the form of a soft serve cone. Humorous, nostalgic and instantly recognisable, Soft Serve turns a fleeting childhood memory into a bold contemporary wall piece.
Part painting, part object, the work is designed to feel like an enlarged vintage transparency and can stand alone or sit beautifully as part of a grouped Stencilchrome hang.
- 40 x 40 cm x 1.2 cm deep
- Acrylic & aerosol on MDF panel with custom painted slide mount
- Finished with melamine edging.
- Designed to hang slightly off the wall, creating a subtle floating effect.
- Detail images show the construction and finish.
Is this an Original Artwork?
Is this an Original Artwork?
Yes. This is an original one-off artwork by Geoff Cunningham. I may create related pieces from the same stencil set, but each work is made unique through changes in colour, cropping, composition and narrative.

Is this artwork signed, framed and ready to hang?
Every piece is hand-signed on the front and features my distinctive stencil logo on the back, authenticating each work as an original. Most of my pieces are already framed. For most unframed works, you can add framing at checkout if desired.
