This original stencil artwork by Melbourne artist Geoff Cunningham celebrates the bold colour, personality and beauty of Australian native birds. Each piece is created using hand-cut stencils and layered spray techniques, highlighting the strong shapes and natural character of Australia’s birdlife. Inspired by everyday backyard and bushland sightings, these artworks blend contemporary stencil design with a warm sense of Australian nostalgia.
"The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo is one of the most common native Australian birds and is found in most areas of Australia. Easily spotted against the gum trees due to their stark white plumage and their yellow crest, they are also very noisy and possess a cheeky personality.
They are intelligent and have also adapted to urban environments, and have even learned how to open garbage bins as a source of food. In captivity some will spontaneously dance to music with a variety of unique moves."
Acrylic & aerosol on canvas, 25 x 25cm
