Sweet Surrender captures that perfect split second between affection and resistance - one happy kid, one deeply unimpressed cat, and a family-photo moment that could fall apart at any second.
With oversized aviators, a striped T-shirt and a grumpy cat resigned to its fate, this piece has all the humour, warmth and nostalgia of a typical Australian summer. Like much of Geoff Cunningham’s Summer Lovin’ series, it draws on those small moments of childhood that are funny, familiar and full of personality.
Created in Geoff Cunningham’s signature hand cut stencil technique, using acrylic and aerosol on canvas, Sweet Surrender balances playful character with strong composition, crisp shadows and a soft retro palette.
40 x 40cm (43 x 43 framed), Acrylic, & aerosol on canvas, this piece is framed in a natural oak floating frame.
This is a quieter variation on the Stencilchrome series, this work keeps the spirit of the oversized slide concept while presenting the image in a more pared-back framed format.

Yes. This is an original one-off artwork by Geoff Cunningham. I may create related pieces from the same stencil set, but each work is made unique through changes in colour, cropping, composition and narrative.

Every piece is hand-signed on the front and features my distinctive stencil logo on the back, authenticating each work as an original. Most of my pieces are already framed. For most unframed works, you can add framing at checkout if desired.
