This original stencil painting by Melbourne artist Geoff Cunningham captures the nostalgic character of Australian neighbourhoods and everyday childhood moments of the 1970s and 80s. Geoff blends hand-cut stencils and layered spray techniques to create bold light, shadow and detail. Each piece celebrates the warmth, simplicity and familiarity of retro Australian life.

"There’s nothing more Aussie than a game of street cricket on a summer’s arvo — all are welcome to play and the only rule is you can't go out first ball!
This painting captures that pure, carefree energy — the determined face, and that moment just before the big swing. It’s a snapshot of simpler times when the biggest worry was passing cars.

Bold, bright and full of sunshine, 'The Street Test' celebrates those golden summers that shaped a generation — when every kid wanted to be the next Greg Chappell or Viv Richards."

65 x 85cm (68 x 88 framed), Acrylic & aerosol  on canvas, this piece is framed in a sleek low profile natural oak floating frame.

Is this an Original Artwork?

Yes. This is an original one-off artwork by Geoff Cunningham. I may create related pieces from the same stencil set, but each work is made unique through changes in colour, cropping, composition and narrative.

Is this artwork signed, framed and ready to hang?

Every piece is hand-signed on the front and features my distinctive stencil logo on the back, authenticating each work as an original. Most of my pieces are already framed. For most unframed works, you can add framing at checkout if desired.

Do you offer delivery & hanging in Melbourne?
