Too Cool for School is an original Australian stencil artwork by Melbourne artist Geoff Cunningham, capturing the sunbleached attitude of a scruffy beach kid in oversized sunglasses. Part of the Summer Lovin’ collection, the piece draws on the carefree spirit of 1970s and 80s Australian summers - salty hair, faded T-shirts, long hot afternoons and just enough cheek to suggest he’s probably not where he’s meant to be.

With its clean blue background, bold crop and laid-back swagger, Too Cool for School turns a fleeting childhood memory into a graphic, nostalgic portrait. It’s playful without being sugary, and familiar in the way the best summer memories are - sun, freedom, and that feeling that school was a very distant problem.

40 x 40cm (43 x 43 framed), Acrylic, & aerosol on canvas, this piece is framed in a natural oak floating frame.

This is a quieter variation on the Stencilchrome series, this work keeps the spirit of the oversized slide concept while presenting the image in a more pared-back framed format.

Is this an Original Artwork?

Yes. This is an original one-off artwork by Geoff Cunningham. I may create related pieces from the same stencil set, but each work is made unique through changes in colour, cropping, composition and narrative.

Is this artwork signed, framed and ready to hang?

Every piece is hand-signed on the front and features my distinctive stencil logo on the back, authenticating each work as an original. Most of my pieces are already framed. For most unframed works, you can add framing at checkout if desired.

Do you offer delivery & hanging in Melbourne?

Yes. I offer free personal delivery in the Melbourne area, and I’m happy to help hang the artwork where practical.

Yes. Original artworks can be shipped Australia-wide. I pack each piece carefully in a sturdy box to protect it during transit.
