This original vintage suitcase stencil artwork by Melbourne artist Geoff Cunningham brings retro travel culture to life through imagination and nostalgic detail. Inspired by the past lives these old suitcases have led, Geoff uses hand-cut stencils and layered spray techniques to transform them into vibrant contemporary art. Each piece blends retro charm, storytelling and modern Australian design.

"I bought this stunning travel case at an auction with no idea what I was going to do with it, but it inspired me to take you back to the romantic time of the classic steam engine.

I have left the piece as is, but I think it would make an amazing, one of a kind centrepiece in a living room as a coffee table. A simple sheet of toughened glass laid on top and some short legs added to raise it up a bit would be all it needs. I can arrange this if requested."

Yes. This is an original one-off artwork by Geoff Cunningham. I may create related pieces from the same stencil set, but each work is made unique through changes in colour, cropping, composition and narrative.

Is this artwork signed, framed and ready to hang?

Every piece is hand-signed on the front and features my distinctive stencil logo on the back, authenticating each work as an original. Most of my pieces are already framed. For most unframed works, you can add framing at checkout if desired.
